Countryside Escape: Villa Tombolina and Villa Minerva in Italy

Curating vacation rentals for our guests on our blog is a fun activity, especially clicking through images of unique vacation homes in places I’ve never even imagined visiting before.

Seeing these places online and reading the descriptions are definitely inspiring us to visit these places ourselves, and I hope you feel the same way as you browse through our featured and favorite properties.

We present to you another great escape, this time in the countryside of Italy.

Midway between the sea and the hinterland, surrounded by breathtaking countryside: this is the setting for Villa Tombolina, an old summer residence of the Archbishops of Urbino, a picturesque relais with refined rooms and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. From its strategic position, it is possible to arrive in a few minutes at the beach and reach easily attractions such as the Conero Riviera, the Grotte di Frasassi, the Gradara Rocca.

In an alternation of historic and modern elements, the villa brings together refined architecture and the most comfortable services. Inside the estate, there are other structures able to accommodate together with the Villa up to 45 people having all the property for yourself. Prices and availability on request.

The villa comprises on the ground floor: • a chapel dedicated to St. Rocco ; • a living room (60 sqm. ) with central fireplace with sofas and tables, perfect for parties and dinners ; • a dining room (60 sqm. ) with center table and a lounge with TV , the room you have the option through a glass door access to the basement/cellar; • a kitchen ( 60 sqm. ) that opens with two glazed doors onto a terrace adjacent to the garden which leads to the pool of the villa. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator column, freezer, electric knife, electric oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pans, dishwasher, table and chairs for indoors and outdoors, external laundry room and drying rack, iron and ironing board, barbecue. • toilet.

On the first floor you will find: • a central living room (50 sqm. ) with fireplace and vaulted decorated ceiling with period furniture and sofas from which you access the 4 suites; • a suite ( sleeps 2 +1 ) (30 sqm. ) with vaulted ceiling and bathroom (8 sqm approx. ) in pink marble with Jacuzzi tub , the bed is wrought iron double bed and there is the possibility to add a single bed; • a suite ( sleeps 2 +2 ) (40 sqm. ) with a sleeping area with double bed or two single beds, bathroom, and a wooden staircase and wrought iron that leads to the loft area where you will find the living room with sofa (which converts into a double bed if necessary ), and TV ; • a suite ( sleeps 2 +2 ) (40 sqm. ) with living room with sofa ( which converts into a double bed if necessary ) ,toilet, and access to the terrace , a wooden staircase and wrought iron that leads to the loft area where is the sleeping area with double bed or two single beds; • a suite ( sleeps 2 +2 ) (40 sqm. ) with living room with sofa ( which converts into a double bed if necessary ) , toilet, and access to the terrace , a wooden staircase and wrought iron that leads to the loft area where is the sleeping area with double bed or two single beds; • a small kitchen on two levels.

The suites are all equipped with air conditioning, a small fridge, satellite TV, bed linen, towels, complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Tombolina Villa is located 60 km from Rimini airport, 60 km from Falconara airport, 180 km from Bologna airport; 20 km from Fano railway station.

Villa Minerva (7 sleeping accommodations) stands 850 meters above sea level and is surrounded by flowers and chestnut woods. The villa is situated in upper Valtiberina, at the border between Tuscany and Umbria. The valley is scattered with medieval villages, monasteries, and ancient castles, where numerous Renaissance artists, such as Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca, the Della Robbias and Vasari, were born. The most important towns in the area are Anghiari, Arezzo, Sansepolcro and Città di Castello. Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Cortona are within easy reach. The Villa is 5 kilometers from Lippiano, climbing up to the hills. The last 2 kilometers is a white road.

The spot is perfect for those who love nature and privacy. The villa is an ancient farmhouse that has been recently renovated and furnished with great care. The ground floor consists of a big kitchen, a living room, 1 double bedroom and 1 bathroom. The first floor is composed of a living room, 1 double bedroom, 1 triple bedroom and 1 bathroom. At your disposal is a beautiful swimming pool and for those of you who like to bring their pet, the house has its own fenced in garden to keep the pet secure.

ATTRACTIONS: On the boundary between Tuscany and Umbria, the Valtiberina Valley etches out a charming landscape between the Apennines and is watered by the Tiber. Its mixture of art, history, and nature offers a glimpse of that Tuscany which is only partly known and where there is no mass tourism, where peacefulness and enjoyment of life follow the rhythms of nature. It happens that the tourist who goes in search of Arezzo, Monterchi, Sansepolcro e Caprese Michelangelo will follow the same route as Piero della Francesca in the journeys he made for his work. The famous Renaissance painter, who came from this area, is a rare case of a great artist who continued to live and work in the place where he was born. His major works are in Arezzo, Sansepolcro, and Monterchi. Caprese Michelangelo is where the great artist Michelangelo was born. In this area there is also one of the most beautiful medieval village of Italy, Anghiari: If you look up at the town from the valley you can enjoy a wonderful view, but wandering in the streets of the old town is even more delightful. Visitors can walk along the lanes and admire the traditional stone houses, stairways and attractive small squares which reflect the varied history of the town over the centuries. Not far from Arezzo there is Cortona, an incredible Etruscan city with such an incredible view that reaches the Trasimeno lake. Valtiberina: experience the warm evenings, abundant vineyards and olive groves, welcoming people, medieval hill-towns, and gastronomic delights.

Free internet Wi-Fi mountain bike rental car rental, transportation services from/to airport babysitting SERVICES: The nearest place where to eat is in Lippiano where, a typical Umbrian flatbread called “ciaccia sul panaro” handmade and cooked on a burning hot stone, can be served. Cafés and post office are in Lippiano, 5 kilometers from the villa. Many restaurants, supermarkets, and shops, banks, petrol station and services of any kind are to be found in Monterchi, Anghiari, Città di Castello, and Sansepolcro.
