This year’s Canadian Open women’s tennis competition is hosted by Montreal while the men’s tournament is hosted by Toronto. Every year, the two cities alternate between hosting the men’s and women’s events.
Past women’s champions include Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova, Monica Seles, Chris Evert, and Steffi Graf.
With the return of Serena Williams from maternity leave, the resurgence of Angelique Kerber, and strong parity amongst the female athletes, women’s tennis has never been better (we’ve seen 7 different women capture a major trophy in the past two years).
